THIS IS WHY (July 29, 2015 letter)

This is WHY

I never knew you could be so tired but so happy at the same time

A quick 4 days.

I have some sad news. This morning I got off the phone with our investigator Sister Gu3. She unfortunately has decided not to meet with us anymore because of her family ties to Buddhism. It was a hard phone call especially because the first 2-3 times we met with her were so spiritual and I know that she felt the spirit. I just have to trust that God has another plan for her and at the least we planted a seed! I feel good now that in God's time she will be able to accept the Gospel. :)

We had interviews on the East Coast Monday and Tuesday and we flew there and flew back on a little plane. It was pretty cool. I never imagined that I would travel by plane on my mission. No ginger ale, but yes to apple juice.

Always share wherever you are

Elder Stewart, President Jergensen, and Elder Willes

The best thing that happened last week was Wang2 JM (Vanessa's) baptism. She is so special. Elder Stewart baptized her and we were so excited to see her get baptized. Just like anyone who makes the covenants of baptism she was glowing with light and smiling the whole night long. A funny story.  Wang2 JM's baptism was Saturday which is also our p-day.  So for p-day we had played some foosball with President Jergensen's 2 sons and our voices got pretty hoarse from having some foosball fun.  At the baptism we sang, "Teach Me to Walk in the Light." It definitely wasn't our best sounding musical number, BUT on a good note the spirit was strong and she loved it!

Wang2 JM shared her testimony and 2 Nephi 16:9-10. "Go and tell this people---Hear ye indeed, but they understood not; and see ye indeed, but they perceived not.  Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes--lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and be converted and be healed."  She said they she had been stubborn and not really willing to hear and accept the Gospel but that as she read the Book of Mormon, prayed, and came to church she felt in her heart that it was true. It was so cool to hear her say that God has changed her heart. It was a powerful testimony. It's moments like these on your mission that are so priceless. Because we were willing to share the Gospel this person has made this huge change Wahhh so cool! There are small miracles that happen every day. We just need to seek and then notice them. God loves us all so much!

We have lots of meetings this week.  I'll be able to email you in about 10 days and will be excited to hear about Jake's golf tourney and Nate's trip to Fiji. There is actually a missionary in my mission from Fiji. Such a cool dude.

I've learned two things this week.

We need a perfect HOPE in ALL things.
"Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men.  Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life." 2 Nephi 31:20  It's cool because Heavenly Father already has this PERFECT and complete hope for us to return to His presence. He hopes, loves, and blesses all of us through His son Jesus Christ and His gospel.

We need to be a witness of Jesus Christ and testify of Him.
I was listening to talks on Sunday and I thought about what are the real purposes of talks every Sunday? They are to be a witness of Jesus Christ and to testify of Him. That's what we got to do people.  I testify that He loves all of us. I love my Savior! I'm so lucky to teach people about Him.

Have a good week friends and family! Love you all.
